After completing his BM in Oboe Performance, Nicholas attended woodwind and brass instrument repair school in Red Wing, Minnesota. He then returned to his home in New York to begin specializing in oboe repair while acting as Master Chief Technician at the Jeff Weissman Music Co. Nicholas has established a name for himself as an expert repair technician.

Nicholas was invited to the Mönnig factory in Markneukirchen, Germany to further his knowledge of the woodwind instrument manufacturing process. Immediately following, he traveled to Berlin to train at the world-renowned Ludwig Frank shop and showroom where he refined his repair technique on double-reed instruments. Nicholas then returned to New York to open his own woodwind repair shop, operating out of the iNNOLEDY showroom in Midtown Manhattan.

Nicholas is the only factory trained and certified repair technician of the Gebrüder Mönnig-Oscar Adler line of double-reed instruments in the US.
